To be considered for substitute teacher employment in the School District of Oconee County, you must:
- Must have at least a high school diploma or GED
- Must be 18 years old to substitute in Kindergarten through 5th grade
- Must be either 21 years old or a college graduate (if younger than 21) to substitute in grades 6- 12.

The School District of Oconee County offers competitive pay for substitutes.
Substituting for a teaching position:
- Employee with a four-year degree will be paid $105 per day
- Employee without a four-year degree will be paid $85 per day
Substituting for a classified position:
- Employee will be paid $85 per day (regardless of education level)
Substituting for a Custodial Position:
- $13 per hour
