Special Education Services
The School District of Oconee County Special Education Services Department is tasked with overseeing a full continuum of special education programs and services for students aged 3 through age 21. Our team includes special education teachers, speech-language pathologists, social workers, psychologists, occupational and physical therapists, registered behavior technicians, and paraeducators. A vital part of our program is an ongoing partnership with parents as we collaborate closely to develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for students who are eligible for special education.

Our continuum of services for students with IEPs provides personalized support to students identified with:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Deaf-Blindness, Deaf Hard of Hearing
- Developmental Delay (ages 3-10)
- Emotional Disability
- Intellectual Disability
- Orthopedic Impairment
- Other Health Impairment
- Specific Learning Disability
- Speech-Language Impairment
- Traumatic Brain Injury

If you suspect your child has a disability, you will need to submit a referral form to your child's teacher or school. If your child is homeschooled or attends a private school, please return the form to the School District of Oconee County Department of Special Education Services.

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Federal law concerning the education of students with disabilities, requires schools to provide you, the parents of a child with a disability, with a notice containing a full explanation of the procedural safeguards available under IDEA and U.S. Department of Education regulations.
