Small purchases not exceeding $2,500.00
Small purchases not exceeding two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500.00) may be accomplished without securing competitive quotations if the prices are considered reasonable. No Purchase order is required for purchases under $2,500.
Purchases over $2,500 to $10,000
Solicitation of written quotes from a minimum of three qualified sources of supply must be made and documentation of the quotes to the purchase requisition to the purchase requisition for a small purchase over two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500) but not in excess of ten thousand dollars ($10,000). The award shall be made to the lowest responsive and responsible source. A district purchase order is required for any/all purchases over $2,500.
Purchases over $10,000 up to $50,000
Written solicitation of written quotes, bids, or proposals must be made for a small purchase over ten thousand dollars $10,000 but not in excess of fifty thousand dollars $50,000. The procurement shall be advertised at least once in South Carolina Business Opportunities or a newspaper of general circulation in the district. The award shall be made to the lowest responsive and responsible source. A district purchase order is required for any/all purchases within these purchase amounts. This needs to be advertised and formally quoted by the Purchasing Department.
Purchases over $50,000
These are considered a formal bid or Request for Proposal (RFP) and must be handled with assistance from Purchasing Services by calling 886-4423.
